PokéSurvivor Shiny Hunting

Unlock a shiny partner by defeating its shiny enemy or receiving a shiny regional gacha result. PokéSurvivor uses three different shiny rates: 1 in 4096 for eligible wild spawns, 1 in 512 for an eligible legendary chosen for a rift, and 1% for an eligible gacha result. Eligibility matters: 958 of the 966 roster entries support a shiny form. First check your target, then choose its acquisition route. Seeing a shiny during a run is the beginning of an encounter; you still need to defeat it to collect the form.

A practical shiny hunting route

  1. Check the form before planning the hunt: Find the partner in the Pokédex and check its shiny-support field, region and collection routes. A species being playable does not establish that its shiny sprite is supported. The eight unsupported entries are listed below.

  2. Choose wild encounters, a rift or regional pulls: For wild hunting, inspect the recorded enemy-tier times instead of assuming a fixed map location. For a legendary, check its possible arena themes and shiny eligibility. For gacha, use the target’s region; another region’s banner does not contain that partner.

  3. Respond to the alert and finish the fight: Wild shiny spawns produce an alert and sound, and shiny enemies sparkle. Locate the enemy and approach with room to dodge. Its shiny conversion doubles its current maximum HP, so expect a longer fight than the corresponding ordinary enemy.

  4. Select the unlocked form in your collection: After the defeat or shiny pull, open the collection and select the partner’s shiny form before your next run. Check the collection entry rather than treating an alert or an unfinished encounter as a successful unlock.

What to do when a wild shiny appears

The wild spawner first selects an enemy from the time-dependent enemy pool and finds a valid spawn point. It then checks whether that species has a shiny sprite before making the 1-in-4096 roll. The Pokédex lists recorded wild-tier start times where available; those times describe procedural eligibility, not a guaranteed encounter or a permanent hunting location. Keep surviving and watch for the nearby-shiny alert instead of revisiting an assumed nest.

Shiny enemies have twice the maximum HP and give five times the XP of their ordinary form. Your collected shiny partner keeps its ordinary base HP, speed and attack values, with a different appearance. Do not choose a collected shiny because you expect the enemy’s doubled HP to carry into your next run.

Defeating the enemy is the collection trigger. An alert, a glimpse of a different color, or damage dealt without a defeat does not complete that step. When you see the alert, keep a safe escape path, avoid rushing through a crowd, and use attacks that fit the target’s types. The softer game chart still reduces resisted damage, which matters against an enemy with extra HP.

Hunting a shiny legendary through a rift

A rift chooses its legendary target before checking shiny support and rolling 1 in 512. This does not mean that every rift is a 1-in-512 attempt at the legendary you want. Target selection and shiny selection are separate: a rift can choose another legendary, and an unsupported form cannot become shiny. Use the legendary directory to check the specific partner’s arena themes, behavior and eligibility.

The encounter reward also matters. An ordinary rift victory awards a Bond rather than the normal playable legendary. Defeating a shiny encounter unlocks the shiny partner form, while a regional gacha result is the normal collection route. Prepare for the arena fight before entering; a favorable shiny roll is useful only if you can finish the encounter within its time limit.

Regional pulls and shiny duplicate handling

The gacha selects rarity and a partner from the chosen regional pool, then checks shiny support and applies the 1% roll. A shiny result adds the form to the shiny collection and also adds the ordinary partner if it was not already owned. A one-percent roll therefore describes the selected eligible result; it is not a one-percent chance of a named target or a missing shiny from the whole roster.

If the rolled shiny is already owned, the game searches that same regional rarity pool for shinies you still lack. It reroutes to one of those missing forms when possible. If no missing shiny remains in that pool, it turns the result into an ordinary one. Your collection state changes the final reward, so a target-shiny model that assumes uniform selection on every pull will mislead you.

If you already own every supported shiny in the selected rarity pool, the shiny result becomes normal. If you also own that normal partner, you receive its ordinary duplicate refund: 15, 30, 60, 120 or 300 PokéCoins by rarity. The five-star pity and ten-pull rarity guarantee control rarity; neither promises a shiny result.

Read cumulative odds as eligible trials

For independent trials with a fixed eligible rate p, the chance of at least one successful shiny roll after n trials is 1 − (1 − p)ⁿ. Apply the formula to the rate for your chosen route. The result measures roll successes rather than play time or the chance of winning a fight. Count eligible spawned enemies, selected eligible rift targets, or eligible gacha results rather than all enemies, all rift openings or all account activity.

At 4096 eligible wild trials the probability is about 63.2%, not 100%. Previous misses do not make the next independent wild roll more likely. The same distinction applies to 512 eligible rift targets and 100 eligible gacha rolls. For gacha, calculate shiny-roll success before collection-dependent rerouting or conversion to an ordinary result; completing a shiny rarity pool prevents further new shinies from that pool.

Gacha chances describe successful shiny rolls before duplicate rerouting; a success does not guarantee a new collection entry.

Cumulative shiny-roll probabilities for wild encounters, rift targets and gacha results
Compare independent shiny rolls at 1 in 4096, 1 in 512 and 1 in 100. A successful roll still requires you to defeat an encountered shiny to unlock it.

Eight partners without a supported shiny form

Eight of PokéSurvivor's playable partners have no shiny form. The other 958 can be collected as shinies, including partners outside the opening starter set. Before your next hunt

For a wild target, combine its spawn-table eligibility with a partner and moves you can survive with. For a legendary target, separate the selected encounter, the shiny roll and the arena victory into three steps. For a regional pull, check both the target’s banner and how many missing shinies remain in its rarity pool. These checks answer different questions; a higher conditional shiny rate alone does not establish which route completes your collection fastest.
